Rebooting Polycom Phones

On SoundPoint IP phones, certain multiple key combinations can be used to perform the following functions:
  • Restarting the phone—Restart the SIP application. If the bootROM has changed, a reboot is performed.
  • Rebooting the phone—Reload and run the bootROM, download the modified configuration files, and restart the SIP application.
  • Uploading log files—Upload log files from the phone to the boot server.
  • Resetting configuration—Reset the phone's configuration to the factory defaults.
The exact multiple key combinations for these functions are different on each SoundPoint IP phone model and are described in the following sections.

Warning: The multiple keys must be held for at least three seconds to trigger special processing in the application. The same confirmation tone is played for all functions.

Other reset functions are to be performed through the Settings >Advanced menu option:
  • Restarting the phone—Restart the SIP application. If the bootROM has changed, a reboot is performed.
  • Resetting configuration—Reset the phone's configuration to the factory defaults. (Actually, it overwrites the OVERRIDE_FILE with an empty file.)
  • Resetting device settings—Clears the phone's flash settings.
  • Formatting the file system—Clears the phone's memory, downloads the bootROM and SIP application from the boot server, and reboots the phone.

Note: Enter the administrative password (by default “456”) to access these menu items.

Note: As of SIP 2.2, the Services key and menu entry were renamed Applications. However the functionality remained the same.
